The keeping

A stone that is looked after keeps its polish and its colour for a lifetime. Three habits are enough.

Wear

• Put jewellery on last, after perfume, lotion and hairspray.
• Take it off for swimming, showering, sport and sleep — cords and clasps last far longer.
• Keep porous stones (malachite, turquoise, lapis, opal) away from oils and household cleaners.

Clean

• Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wearing.
• For a deeper clean, a barely damp cloth is all most stones need. No ultrasonic cleaners, no salt water.
• Coloured quartz (amethyst, citrine, rose quartz) can fade in strong sun — store it out of the window.

Cleanse & recharge

• Once a month, leave the piece in moonlight overnight or on a selenite plate for a few hours.
• Sound (a bell or singing bowl) and smoke (palo santo, sage) work for every stone, including the fragile ones.

Store

Keep each piece in its own pouch or the original box so harder stones don't scratch softer ones. Restringing is free within 30 days of delivery, and available for a small fee after that — write to us.
